NSS

National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji’s Birth Centenary Year 1969, with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. The activity forum for NSS includes areas like, National Integration Camp, Blood Donation, Plantation, Immunisation, Shramdaan, Disastor Managament, and Adventure Programmes.

Our institute got engaged in NSS in 1999 through “Shrushti Nature Club” affiliated with WWF.In 2011 our college received the permission to perform NSS activities affiliated with the Shivaji University. Since then our NSS journey with active participation of the students and support of the staff is started with the achievement of great milestones.

What students should do to participate in NSS?

  • Students should remain as a NSS member for minimum 2 years.
  • Every year they should at least work for 120 hour.
  • It’s mandatory for the students to attend a 7-days camp.

Student’s benefit:

  • After working for 2 years (240 hour), students receives a certificate from the Shivaji University.
  • In the final year of the degree, students receives 10 marks for their efforts.
  • In case of failure in the examination of the students, there is an increment by 10 marks.

Tree Plantation: Students planted tree in the vicinity of Nyaay Sankul (Judicial Complex, Kolhapur).

Paper bag manufacturing and distribution: Every Years 50000 of eco-friendly paper bags  manufactured by the students and further these are distributed in the locality for domestic use.

‘Say No to Dolby’: During the Ganesh Festival students distributed cotton balls to the people in the procession to protect them from the noise pollution.

Letter writing to the soldiers: Students wrote letters to our soldiers to show their love and respect towards them and the nation.

Raksha Bandhan: During the Raksha Bandhan festival girls of our NSS family visited the Blind School and tied Rakhi to the students of that school.

Dengue Awareness: At the start of the rainy season a survey was conducted by the students to create ‘Dengue Awareness’.

Dustbin making completion: Our NSS members made dustbins and the best dustbin maker was given a prize. These dustbins were kept in every class of the college to maintain cleanliness.

Traffic control activity: To control the increasing traffic, our students helped the Traffic Police. Traffic rule breakers were given a zendu flower for their behavior.

Women’s Day: Different activities were carried out which represented Women Empowerment and provided a platform to show their talents.

Cashless: To support the Indian Govt.’s decision about the ‘Cashless India’ our students created awareness among the people about the ‘Cashless Schemes’ provided by the Govt.

Blood Donation: By arranging blood donation camp every year 100 blood bottles given to various hospitals.

Special activities

Earth Hour: Every year this activity is performed by our students on the ‘Earth Hour Day’ by requesting the people to switch off their lights for 1 hour and making a 60+ with the help of candles.

Adventurous Trek: Every year our NSS department organizes an adventurous trek for the students where they can experience the beauty of the nature and learn trek skills. Up till date 26 treks were organized. Highest peak of Maharashtra – kalsubai , which is highest peak of Maharashtra(5400 feet) is also climbed by DYPCET Trekars.

Cloths Donation: Usable but unused cloths after collecting are donated to the NGO’s like ‘Aanandavan’, ‘Avni’.

Guest Lectures: Various Guest Lectures were arranged for the NSS members to motivate of enhance their knowledge.

NSS Activities

Mr.Amrut Narke (T.Y. Mech Engg.) is selected for Pre Republic Day camp. Selected in Shivaji University Camp held at Mangalore, Karnataka.

Dr. Rajendra Raykar was awarded as Best NSS Program officer in Shivaji University Kolhapur district for 2019-20.

Plastic Garbage collection drive was carried out on the occasion of sant gadgebaba jayanti in kasaba bawwada, Kolhapur-23rd Feb 2021

Earth hour observed in collaboration with Shivaji university, Kolhapur, KMC, MSEB, Kirloskar Oil Engines. On that day nearly 22,000 streetlights were switched off.-27th March 2021

‘Shivswarajya Din’ was observed in the college. The statue of Chh. Shivaji Maharaj was worshiped at the hands of Principal Dr. Santosh Chede & other Faculty-6th June 2021

Celebrated International Yoga Day in Virtual Mode. Conducted online 3 days Yoga workshop. There are more than 200 student, faculty & Staff are attended that workshop.-21st June 2021

1.Book Donation Activity   [Date : 25/09/2021]

Our NSS Department has donated 700+  books in the form of library to the Z.P. School at Nandgaon  on the hands of  Mr. Abhay Jaybhaye ( Director , NSS S. U), Dr. S. D. Chede ( Principal DYPCET) & the administration of the Nandgaon on the occasion of  NSS Day.

2.Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti  [Date : 02/10/2021]

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, our NSS volunteers cleaned the footpath area outside the new court building. Around   80 volunteers participated this activity. There are approx 60 trees which have been planted by NSS a couple of years ago.

3.Police Mitra Activity  [Date : 15/10/2021]

During the Navratri celebrations, students of NSS took the initiative to alleviate the tension in the planning of crowds at Bhavani Mandap. Also NSS volunteers distributed 10000+ Paper bags which made by our NSS volunteers in bhavani mandap area.

4.Clothes Donation [Date : 28/10/2021 to 30/10/2021]

Our NSS Department has donated more than  3000 clothes  to poor & needy peoples of slum area of Rajaram puri, kolhapur under the ‘EK HAAT MADATICHA’  campaign. Under this initiative, the students had appealed to the citizens of the community to deposit their unused but in good condition clothes there. The citizens of the city responded to his call and donated about 50 kg of clothes. The collected clothes were donated to the poor people of Rajaram puri slums and their faces lit up with joy.

5.Cleaning at Matoshri Chouk    [Date : 30/10/2021]

Many emotionally important statues adding beauty of  Kolhapur are overlooked. One of them is the statue of  Matoshri in Rajarampuri area. Our NSS students have decided to clean in such statues. And on the occasion of international mother’s day Matoshri’s statue was clean by our NSS Volunteers.

6.Guest Lecture on ‘How to become a real life superhero’  [Date : 16/11/2021]

Our NSS Department conducted the Motivational guest lecture on “ How to become a real life superhero” by  Mr. Vishwjeet Kashid , goodwill ambassador for platelets donation India. From this lecture, students got the detailed information about platelets donation and its benefits.

7.New Voters Registration Drive  [Date : 24/11/2021]

Our NSS Department conducted the Voters registration Drive in our college with the help of District Electoral Officer. The NSS Volunteers Spared in all the lecture hall & distributed the registration forms to the students & guide them to fill out the form. After filling the form, it was collected and handed over to the Chief Electoral Officer for further action.

8.Teaching Activity for School Childrens [Date : 04/12/2021]

An innovative initiative is being implemented by our NSS Department to teach school children in Nandgaon every saturday. Poor children are given knowledge of arts, skills, science, mathematics, English etc. in addition to their textbooks.

9.Women’s Day Celebration   [Date : 08/03/2022]

Celebrated Women’s Day on 8th March 2022 in our college.  We arranged a guest lecture series on that day included our Guests Adv. Mrs. Pratibha Chavan, Dr. Mohini Deshpande, Dream Team, Miss. Kasturi Sawekar.

10.NSS 7 Days Residential Camp [Date : 18/03/2022 to 24/03/2022]

Conducted NSS Camp at adopted villege Nandgaon. In this camp we arranged many social activities like Cleaning, Tree Plantation, E- shramik card drive, Water testing camp, Construction of Bandhara, Health checkup camp etc.

11.Earth Hour  [Date : 26/03/2022]

Celebrated Earth Hour at bindu chouk. Nearly 30,000 street lights are switched off by the permission & support of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation for one hour on 26th March 2022. In that activity Kolhapur Hording association also support us by switched off lights of all the hoardings in Kolhapur city for one hour. In this activity we organized a rally from bindu chouk to chh. Shivaji chouk for create a awareness of global warming.
